What script can be embeded to get a podcast into iTunes automatically?

If you preregister the podcast with the iTunes music store you can
take the link designated for it and embed it in an HTML page. Apple
uses some script to automatically launch iTunes and downloads the
podcast when the link is clicked.

What is the script? I dont want to have to register my podcasts with any service.

when you click a podcast that has been registered with itunes, the
link is directed to apple which gets the proper feed and sends you the
link itms:// opening the itunes music store, the rest of the info
provided so itunes can navigate within the store to find the proper
podcast

Turns out there's a simpler way to do it than the itms:// method iTunes uses.

iTunes registers another, less well known handler: itpc.

If your feed is http://www.example.com/feed.xml, then all you have to
do is to redirect the user to itpc://www.example.com/feed.xml, and
voila, iTunes will magically add your podcast.

This assumes the user has iTunes installed, of course.

Here's the link for the TWIT and Inside the Net podcasts - you can
just swap the PodCast ID to your own.
