More with fossil energy plant than for nuclear plant, more for
industrials than for families, more for baseload demand than for pick
demand.
Excellent statistics in USA in DOE site

cost of fuel in this http://www.eia.doe.gov/cneaf/electricity/epa/epat8p2.html

price of electricity in this http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/aer/txt/ptb0810.html

% in 2002 for residential
5% for nuclear
19% for fossil fuel
38% for gas turbine and small scale (wind photovoltaic)
0% for hydroelectric

with this data http://www.eia.doe.gov/cneaf/electricity/epa/epat1p1.html

mean for residentiel electricity 15%

Various assumptions are possible to get different percentages. ie
depreciation of buidings, appreciation of land. If zero fuel cost is
correct for hydroelectric, I think 38% is way high for wind
photovoltaic.
By megawatt-hours, world wide, 30% is probably a reasonable estimate,
summing all sources and all customers. Perhaps 25% for the USA as our
payroll costs are higher than average.
Since the mean would occur in baseline hours rather than peak demand,
15% is way low using the same assuptions as 19% for fossil fuel,
unless I am missing some point of logic, which is possible, even
probable. Neil
