Having medical issues can put you at risk in addition to your
passengers. Even if what you have is not contagious, airlines require
that all candidates have the proper stamina to complete their jobs.
With many flights lasting more than ten hours [pan global or trans
continental] the energy level you will need to have must be high.
You need to ask yourself some questions including:
1. In light of my illnesses what is the best type of position for me to work?
2. Will this job allow me to have time off when I am feeling ill?
Airlines give people time off, but not for excessive periods.
3. Will the company demand that I have a physical and will the results
of that physical become known to them? In other words, once they find
out about the extent of your illnesses do you think they will see you
as too risky of a hire? Airlines are not in the business of placing
people who are high risk to them.
4. If you still want to work at an airline, perhaps an office position
would be best?
I can't answer the questions, only you can. My gut feeling is that you
would not be hired unless your illness is under medicated control.
Even then, you may be perceived to be a huge risk.
Take care of yourself. We are only given one body in this life. The
decisions you make today will effect your tomorrow. |
