The internal CD writer in my Windows XP PC has just stopped working. It reads OK but it will not write. I have tried different media and even a different CD writer but the problem is the same. I have tried all the usual things like checking to see that the cables are properly inserted. |

It seems as if you've done all the necessary hardware inspections and based on the fact that it is reading media. I would suspect the burning software at this point; therefore, the most expedient panacea (if in fact is the source) is to simply reinstall it, and i, too, would recommend visiting the manf.'s web site for any patches, i.e., updates related to windows XP. Good Luck! |

Thanks. I have been able to fix the problem as the printer also stopped working at the same time but it had worked only the day before. This reminded me I have used some PC "unwanted files" cleaning software. When I restored the files the problem was solved for the printer and CDR. Thanks Regards Peter |
