I am about to invest about $7000 dollars into buying some stuff from a
website called

surplusmasters.com, I have bought some stuff from them before around
$100 dollars worth, but I am still cautious. I was just wondering if
anyone could figure out if they are 100% trustable, and whether or not
I should go through with giving them $7000 by cashiers check.

spax-ga,

There are never any guarantees in dealing with new companies.

The surplusmasters.com website has the look and feel of a legitimate
business. On the plus side:

--you've done business with them before, and it's (I trust) been satisfactory

--their site posts address, phone and other contact information,
without any attempt at masking their identity

--would-be customers are encouraged to visit their warehouse in
Pennsylvania -- have you considered doing this to set your mind at
ease?

--The company has a decent record with the Better Business Bureau. Of
the two complaints on file, one was fully resolved, and the other,
while it was not resolved, BBB considers that the company made all
reasonable attempts to resolve the situation.

Can you tell us a bit more about the nature of your concerns, and what
sort of information might help you in making a final decision?

Thanks,

pafalafa-ga

Ok, I thought everything was going to be fine by using the escrow
account, but it seems they won't let me use escrow.

NO , we do not accept escrow.com, nor paypal.
Wire transfer
Money order
cashier check

All orders must be paid in full to secure

I am very intrested in buying from them but now I don't know what I
should do. The only thing I guess I could ask you to do would be
mabey:
1. Is there another way I can securely but $7000 worth of electronics
from them safely? Some kind of protection if they end up just ripping
me?
2. Does them being signed up with the BBB protect me?

I've seen Surplus Masters as active in the wholesale community, they
just started splitbuy.com, they are signed up with surplus.com, I've
bought about 100 dollars worth of jewelry and made a successful
return, I've talked to the people in the business, but I still don't
know if this is enough to trust them. Really, I would like your
opinion on all this.
Thanks, Mike

spax-ga,

I hope you noticed the clarification/comment I posted on Jan 15 (above).

As I said, I do not see any of the typical red flags that show up with
some companies. NOr have I found any complaints about
surplusmasters.com on the web.

That said, it can be a mean world out there, and your caution is understandable.

Have you considered a half-way step? Since you've already had a
successful $100 purchase, why not try a $500 or $1,000 as your next
purchase, before committing to the full $7K?

It may be that the only way you'll fully feel comfortable with this
company is to develop some more history with them.

Let us know your thoughts.

Sorry, I did read your Jan 15 thing but I guess I wasn't thinking
about it when I typed the clarification, I would definetly prefer
buying less, but there is a minimum quantity, and the stuff I am
buying goes down in value VERY slowly as the time passes. So I am
really focused on buying this, right now I THINK im gonna go through
with buying it. Through your research, and mine, it seems very likely
that they are legitimate, I hope we haven't missed anything important.
Is there some way that I could privately tell you what the product I
am buying is and how much, for the sake of competition? Would that
help with your thinking at all?

Later: Acctually, I really think I'm going to go through with the
deal. After considering how they let you visit and all the good
things I see and know about them, PLUS my mom is planning on visiting
the company and checking out the place. I'll tell you what my mom sees
when she visits.
You've really been helpful and I guess someone needs to get paid
right? In a few days im going to buy the products, if everything goes
well i'd gladly give you the $16.

Mike

Have you considered using a reputable online escrow service such as Escrow.com?

https://www.escrow.com/index.asp

If you do decide to use an escrow service, be sure that YOU choose the
service. Fraudsters often steer their victims toward phony escrow
services as part of the con.

Umm, it would cost $168 to do 7000 with escrow. I think i'll pass on that.

Turns out that they are reliable, and also that they raised the price
right as I sent the check. Mabey I waited too long. I canceled the
order complely because they would only give me 2/3 of my origional
order with the same amount of money. They sent the check back.
Thanks, but sadly it didn't work out :(
