Hi juice76,

Actually, it was philosopher and poet, Georges Santayana, who said
"those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it.".

The following are verifications of this:

"...What is good for the mountain is not always good for the rocks ?
and if too many rocks are removed, the whole mountain might collapse.
Georges Santayana warned the US about intervening in Vietnam by
saying, ?Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it.?"

"George Santayanna once wrote that those who do not study history are
doomed to repeat it. This philosophy has its application in debate as
well..."

"...We ask why and how. Why did the Reformation happen when it
happened? Why were there so few slave revolts in the United States?
How did family life change in the Victorian era and why did it do so?
This question, repeated in many forms and used by all subfields of
history, provides the information we need to reformulate Georges
Santayana's classic expressions. "Those who do not study history are
doomed to repeat it.""

"...So in 1648, an era of horror ended. But wars of religion
continued, showing that George Santayana knew what he was talking
about when he said, ? Those who do not study history are doomed to
repeat it.?"

"...it does suggest the truth of Santayana's famous dictum, "Those who
do not study history are doomed to repeat it." Because most of us
extrapolate from our own (necessarily brief and limited) experience
and presume that life will unfold similarly from that point on..."
