A widow (L) in Beirut requires long term care for her 34 year old mentally disabled daughter (R). R is in good general physical health. Her level of disability is such that she appears to be a fully grown, somewhat anxious, 8 year old. R is bilingual in Arabic and English. At present R is attending day care in Beirut; she will not be accepted at this facility after the age of 35. L is very worried about what will happen to R after she, L, dies. This worry is compounded by the fact that L cannot afford to pay for private care. L wants to place R in an extablishment (? religious - any denomination is acceptable) which will be capable of caring for her for the rest of her life. The main problem facing L is that she cannot afford to pay for private care. The school which R attends at the moment is free of charge. Is there any charitable fund anywhere in the world which could, and would be willing to, finance the care that R requires? L is prepared to take R to any other country if she can find the correct care for her. |

:'(... It would be easier if there was a google local for lebanon. The only site I could find with only a little information about locations in lebanon is: http://www.downtownbeirut.com/ This story is touching. The best advice I can think of is to call local businesses, universities, and churches and ask for donations. Ask local university professors about the possibility of tax deductable donations as a sponsorship for the future of R. I dont know how the lebanon laws work but appealing as free but charitable to companies is always successful. The universities health care professors may give insight also on the situation. I like to pick on professors because they dont work for the money and in such situations as your own they're more than happy to apply their knowledge to your benefit without reimbursement. Aggressive solicitations to any and all possible sources of funds, in my mind, is more promising than soliciting for permanent boarding. However it may be possible in the christian religion to seek such a solicitation where there is a convent(nuns). Money can solve many of the discomforts as institutions can be accessed anywhere. Once funding is achieved a trust fund or similar type of arragement is best with the provider so that R is taken care of. |
