Please be aware that if you remove Internet Explorer from your system
you will no longer be able to run Windows Update to download and apply
the latest patches for the operating system. Removing IE may also
break local applications that rely on the IEHTML.DLL file for
rendering. Removing IE will also break any Windows Help files that use
"HTML Help" (CHM).
A better solution is to firewall iexplore.exe from all except the
following IP addresses (the following are Windows Update IPs):

131.107.103.243
195.113.150.16
64.4.21.60
207.46.0.0/255.255.0.0 (this is all IP addresses ranging from
207.46.0.0 to 207.46.255.255)
63.208.157.0/255.255.255.0 (this is all IP addresses ranging from
63.208.157.0 to 63.208.157.255)

You can remove MS internet explorer from your computer ONLY if you
install Linux, or some other OS.

I hear that you cannot completely remove IE from MS Windows from Win2K
on, possibly WinNT4 too.

I have used a "cleaned" laptop running Win2K, before another browser
was installed. You can still access and render web sites!!! I think
components from the IE the browser are embedded. I guess the only
solution is a software firewall that chops off its ability to talk to
the network.

As the previous commentator says try Linux or one of the other
operating systems around. I don't know if it is possible to configure
PocketPC to run w/o a browser.
