Question ID: 43390
I recently watched an episode (in German) of the TV series called, I
believe, "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" in English. As far as I could
determine, this episode was called "Jenny's Non-Dream" and was first
aired in the US on 8 Jan 1997. It involved Jenny staying over at
Sabrina's house and mistakenly taking a closet door into another
world; Sabrina has to convince Jenny that it was only a dream so that
she will be allowed to return to the world of mortals.

In this episode, Melissa Joan Hart, playing Sabrina, wore a nightdress
which I found pretty. It's not the same as the one worn by Jenny in
the same episode, and I think it's not the same as the one Sabrina
wore a few episodes later (in "Cat Showdown").

Can you tell me who made the nightdress Sabrina wore in that episode?
What is the name or other identifier (e.g. catalog number) of that
model nightdress? Is it available by mail order from Europe? Are there
pictures available on the Internet showing that nightdress, such as in
a catalog or from stills from that episode?

OK, pinkfreud-ga was able to point me to some stills from that
episode, many of which include Melissa Joan Hart wearing that
nightdress, so that part of the question is already answered.
Researchers, please only provide an answer to this question if you
have information on the make and model of the nightdress involved, or
if you have larger and/or better pictures of the nightdress (either on
MJH or, say, from a catalog). Any comments are welcome, however.
Thanks pinkfreud-ga!

Is this the nightdress you're remembering?

The link in my previous comment takes you to a page with many photos.
This is the one I intended to ask about:

pinkfreud-ga: Yes, I think that's it.
Thanks a lot for finding those pictures for me! Also other pictures of
that series have that nightdress. And I still think it looks good :)
I guess that pretty much answers this question -- unless someone can
find larger pictures or background information about the make and
model of the nightdress. Thanks very much pinkfreud-ga!

I was not successful in locating a replica of the nightdress. The
style is referred to as Victorian or Edwardian, and although I found
many similar items, none have the same style neckline and the vertical
pin-tucked trim.

You might want to consider hiring a seamstress to re-create this
design. It would not be difficult to make such a garment by adapting a
standard pattern for a long-sleeved, floor-length nightgown.
