Presumably, the names you are looking for are mentionend in the book
"St. Louis Fire Department" by Frank C. Schaper and Betty Burnett,
published by Arcadia Publishing http://www.arcadiapublishing.com/
(2003).

About the authors:

"Search Inside":

Another way to find this list would be to ask the St. Louis Fire
Museum. Their e-mail (PUBLIC RELATIONS CONTACT) is mentioned here:

The book cited by fp-ga is a very useful resource for information
(especially photographs) related to the St. Louis Fire Department.
Indeed, a search inside the book reveals the names of fire chiefs in
St. Louis (and most of their terms) for all but one nine-year period
during the time that interests you. Here they are, as supplemented by
dates obtained through Googe searches:

Walter H. Kanun - 1949-55
Hugh F. Lion - 1955-58
James J. Mullet - 1958-65
????? - 1965-74
Charles Kamprad - 1974-1980
Thomas Long - 1980-86
Neil Scetanics - 1986-1999
Sherman George- 2000-

However, whoever held the post between 1965-1974 apparently is not
mentioned in the book, and I have had no luck finding the name(s) with
a variety of Google searches. Here's hoping that another researcher
can come up with the missing information.

Finally, Neil Scetanics, who was the immediate predecessor to Sherman
George, was the answer to a previous question of yours, found here;

While the date of his appointment was not critical to your previous
question, please note that he was apparently appointed in 1986, not
1996, as contained in the source cited in that answer. Here is a
reference to that appointment date at the website of the St. Louis
Fire Department (it is also referenced in the book cited by fp-ga):
