I have a new laptop. When I purchased some DVD's I got a message
saying that it had encountered a problem and would be closed. The
software programs I am using are Windows Media Player and WinDVD. It
plays copies of movies that friends have given me just fine.

That isn't the error, it's just the temporary file Windows creates
when sending an error report to Microsoft. When and in what program
does the error appear?

Sorry, I should've been more specific. Does the error occur with all
DVDs you've tried, and what program are you using to play them?

I have a new laptop and the video programs are WinDVD ans Windows
Media Player. When I put a store bought DVD in the drive it says it
has encountered a problem and will be shut down. When I play home
recorded DVD's it's fine.
