Book publishers generally won't accept e-mail submissions. In fact they won't even read the note. (I have had five non-fiction books published.) |

So in total you've had ten non-fiction books published, Siliconsamurai? Well done! |

Five titles mikomoro, they actually publised several copies of each one (GRIN), that was a mistaken double post. Everyone should do it at least once. Still, I don't recommend it as a way to make money. Even with some really big publishers (Dow Jones Irwin, McGraw-Hill, etc.) and good promotion ,the books didn't make much money, I figure I must have earned about 10-cents per hour total. (GRIN) But that was so long ago that I have trouble remembering the titles. I will probably self-publish the next one since you can market through Amazon directly but I wouldn't recommend that to a first timer. Hagan is exactly right, although I recommend that you first look through the same category of new books on Amazon or in a book store to see what publishers are currently putting out new books in your genre - I haven't looked at WD for decades until my cousin recently asked me about it - lots of the listings look the same as they did in 1980. The situation is very different when you have an established relationship with editors. Once a proposal (usually with a full outline and first chapter) are accepted, then most publishers will work electronically but some still want printed hard copy submissions (several in fact since one goes to a copy editor). |
