To become a professor, you need a PhD. This will require, first, a bachelor's degree in any discipline, followed by entry to a graduate school offering a PhD in History, which typically takes 5 to 8 years to complete. There are no professional examinations beyond those administered by the degree-granting institution. Today, an assistant professor in the humanities is usually offered a salary between $50,000 and $80,000 to start, depending on the applicant's academic record and the hiring university's financial resources. leapinglizard |
