Question ID: 434136
i have an idea that i believe has the potential to change the world.
it involves setting up a collaborative website to provide citizen's
oversight of governments, specifically governmental war agendas. the
idea would be to use the internet to serve as a disruptive technology
to the government's basic "business model" of waging war to maintain
their own power / increase their own profits (while simultaneously
misrepresenting the situation to their citizens.) with the website, it
would hopefully be possible to let people see past the government
supplied version of events ("the enemy is at the gates") to access the
real nature of the underlying situation ("we need to invade iraq
because they're trying to price their oil against the euro..."). in
essence, the collaborative website would serve as an antidote to
governmentalal propaganda and media consolidation.where can i get
funding to develop this important project? who can i present this idea
to who will see the value of it and be willing to fund it? how can i
pitch it in a way that people can understand?

There so many political blogs on the Web already that I sincerely
doubt that funding for such a project can be obtained.

Could you be more specific about what the "amazing" part is so we can
provide some help? Otherwise this doesn't seem particularly new or
unusual, just try www.blogger.com for free.

The intriguing thing is that (I believe) internet started out as a
government/military project.

The Internet started with ARPANET. This consisted linked computers in
various universities around the U.S. that were doing defense research
for the government. It was a research tool, albeit a defense research
tool.

wavegetarian-ga:
" The Internet started with ARPANET"

True. And one of the goal of the project was to make it possible for people
to communicate under difficult conditions (like during the nuclear war).

We do not have nuclear war (yet) but by applying the net to the whole planet,
with heterogenous computers and societies we are indeed attempting
'to communicate under difficult condition' . Internet is doing fairly well
(except for spam, which was not anticipated in the original spec :-)

"I thought Al Gore invented the internet....."

And Al Gore did pretty good job managing transition from
domains .arpa to .gov and .mil and then to .com etc and he never said that
he invented Internet. So, indepedently of how one votes, we shoud note that
elections are over stop repeating (succesfull but crude) slur.

That, uneducated people, who do not know history and just parrot slogans,
that is a real obstacle to good communication and good governance.

If benjaminpritchard's could solve that I would myself contribute few bucks.
Alas, I see no indication that he got something new.

Hedgie, I really urge you to look at 434056 before even joking that
you would contribute.
Subject: clarification from original poster

i am the poster of the original question. basically, what i have done
is setup the website http://911TruthEmergence.com with which i have
attempted to bring to light the way in which the masses are galvanized
into supporting imperialistic wars. further, i have spent basically my
life savings trying to get word out about this [mostly via google ads,
seen by upwards of 2 million people] and have tried a million
different ways to figure out a way to raise money to support my
important work. (end result: no money, but lots of antagonism.) i
truly believe that mine [and similar initiatives] are going to
invalidate the basic model of war planners: contriving wars by staging
"false flag" attacks on their own populations, and then getting the
uneducated masses to actually fight/fund them. this pattern has been
played out a thousand times throughout history (google: "how to start
a war") and it is high time we worked together to stop this from
happening again and again. this has nothing to do with setting up a
"political blog." it has to do with stopping war planners from
murdering 100s of thousands of innocent people and getting millions of
bible-thumping, flag-waving idiots to cheer it on. all it takes if for
people to be exposed to the true nature of a war (i.e. economic
dispute between countries) instead of their government's propaganda
("the enemies are at the gate! and they're eating babies!") and people
will quit supporting it. so to re-phrase my question: where can i
obtain funding for this important project?

Certainly a laudable goal for anyone.

Just out of curiosity, your site appears to be registered by and through
   Domains by Proxy, Inc.

Or, was that a WhoIS error?

I was asking because that site and service http://www.domainsbyproxy.com/
Is specifically advertising that they offer completely anonymous URL registrations.

I'm certain there is an excellent reason for this but would you mind
sharing the reason with us?

You still haven?t answered my original question about what makes this ?amazing.?

Nobody much pays any attention to Noam Chomsky and he gets published
in the NYT and even has DVDs of his talks to The Kennedy School
available for rent at Netscape so, I ask again, what is so
different/amazing about your ideas?

To suggest where you can raise money it is important to know that so
we can make a guess as to who would contribute to you rather than
supporting all the established anti-war, anti-imperialism sites and
societies with decades of credibility.

Obviously a typo, netflix, not netscape. I'm blaming an auto-complete program I use.
