Oddly enough, there doesn't seem to be a resource that fully matches
what you're looking for.

For an online resource, the Mergent Company database -- available
through many schools and libraries -- appears to come closest:

Mergent Online
Provides detailed information on 1,200 U.S. public banks and 1,300
foreign public banks. Data includes history, business, property,
subsidiaries, officers, directors, long term debt, capital stock,
income statement, and balance sheet. 15 years of financial data are
available. Companies can be searched by financial variables, SIC or
NAICS codes, keywords, and more. You can customize viewing and output
to retrieve the exact data elements you need, and you can download or
print these customized reports. Data can be exported into Excel.

==========

A much more comprehensive listing of banks is available only in print
(an odd limitation, in this electronic age of ours!):

Thomson World Bank Directory

Lists 48,000 banks and bank offices. Banks are listed by country,
city, and bank name. Bank listing include membership and ownership
information, brief financial figures (in U.S.$ and perhaps also the
local currency), balance sheet, addresses, and more. Also provides
credit rating from Fitch IBCA, Moody's, and Standard & Poor's. While
this volume covers the 1,000 largest U.S. banks, the Thomson North
American Financial Institutions Directory covers almost all U.S.,
Canadian, and Mexican banks.

==========

I'm not sure either source would have the email addresses you're
looking for, although they certainly provide other types of contact
information.

The AAAdir site that you linked to originally looks like a pretty
useful resource for bank listings. What sort of additional
information are you seeking beyond what AAAdir provides?

The more we understand what you need, the more likely we can provide a
focused answer to your question, so let us know any additional
information that you can.

Thanks.

Thanks for clarifying...I'll continue to search for an online source.

Mean time...you have a pretty good resource at www.aaadir.com.

What sort of ADDITIONAL information are you looking for?

yes, aaadir is cool but they are not updated. Many of the emails from
banks there are old and useless. I found a service one that sells the
information I needed but I lost it. It's there somewhere...

Hi thomtchsd,

I wasn't able to locate a comprehensive online directory of world
banks. However, during my search, I came across the following books
which may be of interest to you:

Directory of the World's Banks
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1884964842/

Thomson Bank Directory
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1563104598

Polk's World Bank Directory 2002-03
http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/ts/exchange-glance/Y02Y3051435Y8397189

I hope that helps a little.

rainbow-ga,

The one that gives the information on CDROM and on line is good. So as
I understand I will pay via my credit card and they will make
available for download the 40.000 bank list.
This is very good for me. Please tell me the website.

Thanks
