Okay, so you don't go in for the supernatural . . . fine . . . be that way . . .

I'll try another tack: what county in England has the most frequent occurance
of the phenomenon known as 'crop circles'?

I think British folks should really know this stuff since the aliens
are trying so hard to communicate with you! Can't you be civil enough
to meet them half way?

ts

p.s. I won't dispell the circulating rumor that I eat Crop Circles
(tm) for breakfast . . .

I?m not quite sure whether to post this as an answer because the
reliability of any statistics on this topic is very debatable.
According to my searches conducted on this web site, the answer is
Wiltshire followed by Hampshire.
The links on the left allow you to navigate UK Formations (by year),
or you can limit the search engine to county and year only. There are
statistics only for Wiltshire and Hampshire in the Historical Archive
(the page only allows you to view the first 50 entries out of 500.
Refine it by using the search engine)

Hi again, answerfinder,

Well, its fun anyway. I think this may be as 'scientific' as it's
going to get . . .

I see there was one just last August in West Meon, very close to where
I used to live; must contact them and get the scoop!

go ahead and post it; it's a good source, thanks!

Search strategy
"crop circles" +statistics, led me to a number of sites on crop
circles. One of their links led me to the above site.

(Personally, I think they're caused by a bunch of blokes finding
something to do after an evening in the pub.)

I see we haven't swayed you, answerfinder!

You might find the following article interesting; it's all about the
Discovery Science Channel's oft-repeated show about a group of MIT
students who attempt to replicate a crop circle. In order to fulfill
one of the requirements they had to set off a huge (and loud!)
explosion near the end of their experiment . . . this and other
details have the circle enthusiasts regaling themselves in laughter .
. . it's an interesting piece:

Hiya TS,

I'm a firm believer in the supernatural.
I rest my case.

Hey Steph!

I'm glad to see you're in our camp : )

Seventy-five occurances in the UK alone so far this year; how can you 'splain that?

Kate, did you get to see the UFO? Had experiences in crop circles?

LOL, nope the UFO was a very elaborate hoax, it hovered and floated
around one of the pubs in Avebury a couple of years ago. I used to
drive through an area of hampshire to work each day that had a huge
concentration of crop circles, was on the Wilts/Hants border!

that's good, guzzi !

kate, I wonder how they managed the hoax?

When we were kids in (California in '60s) we created fake UFO's . . .
highly dangerous, not to be attempted at home! . . . anyway, because
Life Magazine had just come out with a cover story about alien
visitations, it caused a bit of a stir in the neighborhood...

Timespacette,

Since you're quite good with wordplay, I thought you might find it
amusing to know that a local health-food deli serves a frozen drink
made with various green things such as alfalfa, bean sprouts, and
barley grass.

They call the drink "Crop Slurples."
