I am interesting in finding market data on the total consumer spend on
golf learning and education. Golf learning and education would
include but not be limitd to):
-Golf lessons
-Golf instructional books
-Golf instructional videos
-Time at driving ranges
-Putting machines and other contraptions that let you swing the club
at a ball indoors
-Sessions at simulators
-Golf video services

I'm looking for the overall number. Any breakdown by category would
be helpful. The most important aspect of the answer is that the
source is cited and reliable.

To clarify...i'm looking for the total consumer spend in the U.S. If
you could provide the figure globally, that would be a great bonus.

Ok. this is what I have come up with.....

Golfers spent $24.3 billion in 2002 on equipment and fees.
They spent $19.7 billion on public and private green fees and dues in
2002, which accounted for 81 percent of all spending. They spent $4.7
billion on equipment (clubs, balls, bags, gloves, shoes).

THe site is terrific and If you are doing any extensive research about

This site is the site for all golf consumer info. They offer reports,
industry peices etc. You need to pay a small fee to join and since
it's saturday i cannot get in touch with them. I have gotten the
initial info, if you want i will dig deeper. But this is where you
are gonna get all the info you need.
