You sure AP8161 is the model number? Might it be a manufacture date
code for 1981. And the ?AP?, auto pilot perhaps? A description might
help, and sort of age.

I wasn?t able to find any information about that specific model
number, but AP most likely stands for ?Admiralty Pattern?, which
indicates that is was built to British Admiralty specifications to be
used by the British Royal Navy.
