National Sharegraphics, a genealogical book publisher, was a Dallas, TX company up until sometime in the mid-1990's. It was located at 1931 North Industrial Boulevard Suite #105 Dallas, Texas 75207 and it's phone was 214-651-1025. Sometime in the 1980's it changed it's name to Curtis Media Corporation (appears not to be related to Curtis Media Group, a NC company). but was at the same address with the same phone, and was stil regarded as a historical and genealogical book publisher. The TX Sec of State website says that Curtis Media Corporation was voluntarily dissolved. I am trying to find out what happened to Curtis Media and it's copyright assets. There is now a company at that address, but not the same Suite #, with the name of Bowne, who is known as a large US-wide financial printer. The Curtis phone number is now a non-working number, though it appears to be within Bownes block of extensions. Bowne's web page does not mention acquisition of Curtis. The registered agent of Curtis, Delbert L. Knowler, is not in Bowne's management or board. Question: what happened to Curtis Media Corp of Dallas? Was it bought and if so, by whom? | |

Hello fortt3-ga, Curtis Media Corp. has apparently evolved into Henington Industries (note the spelling, with a single "n"), in Wolfe City, TX. Henington's web site is here: http://www.henington.com/ and they describe themselves this way: "Unlike most printers, Henington Publishing Company offers complete in-house capabilities for the printing and binding of both hard and soft cover publications. Our full service capabilities allow us to maintain complete control of your book from the time we receive copy until the completed books are shipped to you. Our work includes books on almost every subject imaginable - from school yearbooks and family/city/church/county histories to general commercial printing. We specialize in short runs ranging from 100 to 5000 copies of books up to 900 pages." From the above description, you can see a clear resemblance to the type of publishing done by Curtis Media, particularly the emphasis on local and county histories. I contacted Henington regarding Curtis Media via email at: henington@argontech.net and asked them about the history of Curtis Media, and Henington as the successor company. They wrote back as follows: ========== From: hensvc@sbcglobal.net Subject: Re: Henington Industries Date: Wed, 1 Dec 2004 09:15:29 -0600 The copies of the Curtis Media Corp. books are warehoused here at our plant--we have some, but not all of the books--as some are out of print. If you will send me a list of the titles you are looking for, I will research the inventory & get back to you. Ron Wensel, Henington Publishing Co. ========== So, even though they dodged the question about company successorship, they clearly have ownership of Curtis Media's assets, and are the place to go for any questions/issues regarding Curtis Media. I trust this information fully meets your needs. But before rating this answer, please let me know if you'd like any additiona information.
