I am hoping to open a music store selling guitars, drums, and the like
and I don't know how to find the products.

Do music stores buy directly from the manufacturer? I can see doing
that for the big ticket items if you specialize in a few name brands
of each instrument, but what about all the parts and accessories, like
strings, drum heads, picks, etc. It seems that if you had to order
those all from their respective manufacturers it would be chaos.

So, I guess what I'm wondering is if there is a distributor that
handles everything (guitars, drums, plus the accessories)? Or, do I
have to order the major items from the manufacturer and (hopefully)
the accessories all from one distributor?

A list of a few distributors would be great. I have scoured the web
for a reliable one and they all seem to be fly-by-night type of
websites claiming to be "wholesale". I assume, as with most
businesses, the money is made in the accessories so I expect that
these products will be relatively inexpensive for the retailer to
purchase, I just can't find the sources.

I imagine a current or former music store owner would be able to
answer this in a jiffy.

Thank you!
