I don't think you'll find any site with the versatility of a site
I came across recently. It's still in Beta, so there are some bugs
they're working out, but they offer 1GB of storage space and folders
can be created at will, shared with the web at large, shared only
by email invitation, or kept completely private. It can be set up
so that those invited by email will receive automatic email notice
when new files are added to relevant folders.
Any file type is acceptable, and they also have a toolbar that
allows you to grab screenshots, highlight and upload selected
images and text from a website (that's where they're working
out some bugs, but it *is* still in Beta, so expect that things
will only get better), and more:

I understand you are interested in comparing options, but in all
my years of exploring storage sites, I've never come across any
site that compares, especially considering that it's free. Who
knows if that will change with the perfection of the site, but
I suspect they may 'grandfather in' early users, or maybe they'll
just continue to offer it for free! And most sites focus on images
or a specific type of file storage. This site sets no limitations.
Anyway, I won't presume to post this as an answer yet, but if
comments and clarifications don't yield anything better, let
me know, and I'll post it as a formal answer.
