I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the song you heard was
by Journey rather than Phil Collins.

Journey's "Only The Young" was featured twice in tonight's episode of
"Cold Case" (i.e., at the very beginning of the show and about 12
minutes later during a flashback scene).

No, it wasn't this song.  I do however, remember it playing during
this episode.  I'm sure the song I'm looking for, is by Phil Collins.
It was a slow song.
