I saw this film on SBS Australian tv on "the cult movie" when it used
to be on on saturday night
Scandinavian or Eastern European movie I am fairly certain it is from Norway
I saw it subtitled into English don't know what language they were speaking
surreal action medieval comedy
A knight/warrior arrives in a small village in the hills,
wounded on horseback, and is taken in, given what medical attention is
avaliable fed etc.
here in the movie there is a very small love intrest that develops
between the knight/warrior
and a young village girl with long red hair
this small peaceful village of farmers is being
raided/annoyed/hasseled by the neighbouring village
barbarian/viking type of mean guys stealing sheep and the like.
the enemy/bad neighbouring village has been tormenting the villages around for ages
but no one had the guts to stand up
to them due to the bad guys being really big and well trained with
superior weapons as well (good swords, armour etc).
the now healed knight/warrior (suit of armour, big sword and all)
leads the villagers
to battle, and armed with pitchforks scyths, axes other general farming/medieval
village equiptment, (a couple of swords swinging around too) they go into battle.
they are defeated of the first attempt, but upon being rallied by
their friendly knight/warrior
they fight harder, forget their nerves (their enemy is much bigger and
well trained)
and win the day with a quite funny battle scene.
I remember one of the bad guys standing and you see a sword flash
leaving just the top of the
neck of the armour left, then suddenly up pops the head from within the armour
like a human turtle

Hi,
Any idea what period it's from? Even the decade would help.
Any actor names or actors you recognised?
Thanks.

Hi,
Does this sound right? It's from a Norwegian film in 1984.
High up on a rock, in the middle of a large forest, there is a
stonghold. In that stonghold lives a band of robbers, who robs the
innocent people who travels through the forest. Mattis is their
leader. One night there is a terrible thunderstorm. A great lightning
strucks the rock and makes a wide crack which divides the rock and the
stronghold into two. The same, during the thunderstorm, two children
are born. One is a girl - the daughter of Mattis and the other is a
boy - the son of Borka. Borka now becomes the leader of the other part
of the stronghold. From that day, there are two bands and they are the
worst of enemies. It looks like nothing can bring them together again.
But there are two things that can overcome all obstacles - love and
friendship. The two children grow older, older each in thier part of
the strong- hold, till one day, they are old enough to go out in the
forest on thier own and take care of themselves, like the band's
children have done in all times. And that will not be easy. There are
many strange and dangerous creatures in the forest but also fantastic
adventures...and friends...
Thanks.

Hi,
How about these 2:
1991 Norwegian movie:
Norway in the 10th century. Askur, son of the powerful Thorgeir
marries Embla, daughter of one of the few remaining landowners in
Norway, in a pagan ceremony. King Olav, a ruthless christian, wants to
eredicate all traces of non-christian beliefs and captures the two of
them during the ceremony. In order to free Embla, Askur must go to
Iceland and convert the people there to catholicism.
1985 Norwegian movie:
Vikings attack Kuksja's village, and end up bringing him along on
their ship because they believe he is good luck. After proving himself
in a battle against the dreaded Danes, chief Torir bestows upon him
the name of Einar and takes him in as his son. Back home in Norway the
men are received as heros, but new trouble arises when Kuksja falls in
love with the beautiful Signy, who is already betroth to the vicious
Sigurd.
Thanks.
