I'm looking for the best and most effective horse racing or sporting
event web sites on the internet. I'm involved with
www.melbournecupclub.com.au which you can peruse by using maxhitchins
as a user name and 1111mrh as a password. We want to take the site to
the next level and I'm looking for innovative web marketing ideas to
do that. Are there any sites promoting a major prize (say from
$100,000 to $1,000,000 in either money or value as a 'give away' for
either sporting events or anything else as a way of attacting people
to the net. If so, has the idea it been successful?

Dear Hitcho,

Here are several good sites for you:

RaceBook
<http://www.racebook.com/>
Only horse racing promotions and contests (not any other sports
event); details of each promotion on the left hand bar.

Colonial Downs
<http://www.colonialdowns.com/>
Also a list of promotions, but less attractive than the above mentioned.

Fairplex
<http://www.fairplex.com/fp/horseracing/VisitthePark/promotions.asp>

BetWWts
<http://www.betwwts.com/promotions.asp>
All kinds of sports events.

Players Only
<http://www.playersonly.com/misc/bonus.php>
A relatively long list of promotions

Cybersportsbook
<http://www.cybersportsbook.com/page.asp?content=promotions/promotions.asp>

Linesmaker
<http://linesmaker.com/contest.htm>

I hope this answers your question. Please contact me if you need any
clarification on this answer before you rate it.

Dear Hitcho,

Please note the difference between an ANSWER and a COMMENT and between
me (politicalguru-ga), and the user Askmenow-ga, who is not a Google
Answers Researcher and has just given a comment (to which you;ve
replied in a comment of your own, not in a request for clarification).
I have given you much more than one site, and I also scanned the
Internet to find the "best" for you, just as you've asked. If you were
unhappy with MY answer, you could post a request for clarification in
the answer slot.

Dear politica guru....thank you for your explanation of the difference
between posting a comment and Requesting clarification....
I did make this request of you:
To only get one site and for you to say is by far the best site on the
net may well be true...but that is subjective....it's like me giving
you one name if you were looking for the best looking film stars. It's
only my opinion.
Also the 'betting side' is only a small part of www.melbournecupclub.com.au

As well, I'd like to see some confirmation or some article about the
"9 million users that are currently active."

I've still had no response from you or anyone about:
As well, I'd like to see some confirmation or some article about your quote
"9 million users that are currently active."

Oh Hitcho,

But I didn't say that this is "by far the best site on the net".
Because this was written by askmenow. In fact, I think that Racebook
is much better for you, because it deals solely with horse-racing.

For the first time I am disappointed with Google Answers. Your
researcher initially gave just a singular web site selection hoping to
fulfil my request. On request he added more. But two request for
additional clarification a statement your researcher made have had no
reply. I feel I've been ripped off for my $50.

Hello Here is the answer to your question.

This site is by far the best sport's book on the net. It has free
give-aways every month for thousands of dollars. They are very
detailed and user friendly. They also have over 9 million users that
are currently active.

the site is www.BetGameDay.com and here is a quick link to the free contest

http://info.betgameday.com/en/sports/free_contests.htm

Hope that this helps you get some great promotion and marketing ideas
as well as get your web site up and running right along with the best.

Thank you....but I was hoping for a few more sites and a little more
little more back up info. I asked for "the best and most effective
horse racing or sporting event web sites on the internet."

Thank you...that is more good information....but I'm still hoping
you'll be able to point me to some site or article to back up your
statement that www.BetGameDay.com have over 9 million users that are
currently active.

Hi Melbourne Cup Club,

It is clearly difficult to advise you on racing or sporting websites
that are either (a) the most "effective" , or (b) "innovative", as it
is a very subjective thing (which you have acknowledged).

However, in regard to the second part of your question, I believe that
the two most popular international horse racing websites offering a
major prize, are:

http://www.godolphin.com - The Seven Stars competition on the
Godolphin website offers in excess of US$200,000 prizemoney
(US$100,000 first place prizemoney plus free trips). It is an annual
contest, and is popular with punters all around the world, due to its
free entry.

https://ttf.totesport.com - The Tote Ten To Follow is a very popular
UK contest run by the Totalisator company, and offers in excess of 1
Million Pounds sterling prizemoney (with clauses), however, this made
up up mainly of entry fees. It is run twice a year, once for the Flat,
and the second (more popular!) for the jumping season.

www.trackdata.com.au - has all of this information and much more
available for free, that may help your continued search for innovative
racing websites.

Regards,

Kevin.
