I am a US citizen trying to find a way for my British girlfriend of
two years to live/work in the US. We would be happy to claim fiance
(K1?) status, but we aren't comfortable with the requirement to marry
within 90 days. Is there any way we can get an extension on that
requirement? Assuming that marriage is out of the question for the
near future, what are our other options? My girlfriend is a journalist
with a little less than two years of solid experience. What are her
chances of getting visa sponsorship? What kind of time period/costs
are associated with our options?

Don't know if this helps at all but I think you can live in a country
if you are doing a job that only you can do, or someone from your
country.
Like selling Yorkshire Tea or working in a British style pub.
Obviously yanks can do this too, but you get the idea.
