I need a contact for Stephen Hawking.  I've e-mailed the address given
on his site, and been told that because of the large volume of mail he
receives, it could take quite a while for a response.  So I'm looking
for a phone number, or better e-mail address.

I am the author of a forthcoming novel whose protagonist---a
nine-year-old genius---idolizes Stephen Hawking.  I thought it would
be very much in the spirit of the book if Hawking would lend a blurb
for its cover.  So this isn't really a business request, or even an
academic one.  In short, I want to know that my novel gets to his
eyes.

I doubt he would be too good on the phone.
You'll need to specify what you plan to contact him about in order to
get the correct information.  I doubt he handles much of that business
himself..in fact I hope he dosen't!  He should be doing better things
with his time.

Since Stephen Hawking is an author himself, I suggest leaving this to
your publisher, who probably has contacts within the industry.

Publishing houses typically solicit blurbs. This really isn't
something an author is expected to do.
