Question ID: 435763
I am wondering if there is a way to create a keyboard shortcut for a
custom button that I have created in Outlook. Is this possible in
general? The button that I want to use this for is tied to a macro.
How does that affect things?

Hello Jim,

Have you tried this?

Right click on the button.
Select Properties.
Select the Shortcut key box with your mouse.
Press the key that you want to use as your shortcut.
Click Ok.
The key you selected should now work with CTR+ALT.

Hope it works,
hummer

No offense hummer, but I can't get your method to work. I believe you
misunderstood the question. The method you describe is for shortcuts
for files for Windows OSes. The question was for Outlook buttons.

I myself make keyboard shortcuts in Outlook. The way I do it involves
making a menu item (so you can execute it via alt + *underlined
button*). I am not 100% sure that this will work with macros, but I
imagine that it would.

Rather than type up the method myself, I just found one someone else wrote up:

I know this works for Outlook 2002 and the one before it.

That's ok, Jim, I didn't think it would work but it was worth a try.
Thanks for your note. Take care, hummer

James,

Your method works great, but you posted your answer as a comment.
Should I close the question anyways or do you want to repost as an
answer?

Oopsie...forgot about this one. You can close it. I'm not a Google
Researcher so I can't post answers. I guess they like me stealing $
from them by answering questions for free. :) At least you guys get
free answers.
