I would call that a "lantern clock." Thank you for responding. Although there certainly is a resemblance, I couldn't find an image of a lantern clock mounted on a base as in the source photo. The materials seemed to suggest that lantern clocks were wall-mounted. If you have a link to an image or description that includes a base, I would accept your answer as official. |

Thank you for your efforts. After doing further research, I believe this may be a Daimyo (Feudal Lord) clock that used a uniquely Japanese method of telling time and has no equivalent in the West. http://www.bhi.co.uk/hj/AOM%20June%2003.pdf |
