Hi theresalousie,

Good day. The most common solution is salt in water.

The solubility of salt in hot water is 39.1 g/100cc
The solubility of salt in ice water is 35.7 g/100cc
(Salt referred here is NaCl - Sodium Chloride)

Here are a set of links which will help you out with what you want.

Property and spectral data for elements, organic compounds, and small
inorganic compounds can be retrieved by chemical formula, name,
partial formula, CAS registry number, molecular weight, or by
thermochemical properties. The database includes thermochemical data
(enthalpies, entropies, heat capacities, ...) for several phases and
for reactions and phase transitions, ion energetics data (ionization
energies, electron affinities, ...) and spectroscopic information (IR,
UV, visible, and mass spectra).

This is the 2nd in a series of homework questions my nephew asked me
and I did not have the time to research it myself. I hope it's ok to
use your service for this (since I'm paying ;>D). Thanks for a great
job! My brain isn't recalling Chemistry to this degree!
