I am hunting for 2 books I recall from my childhood. Book #1 is a poem, with the opening line something like "In a farm, in a barnyard just over the way lived a pony named Alfred who couldn't say neigh." Book #2 is a children's book that teaches about environmental responsibility. The message is that if everyone throws their pop cans or popsicle sticks on the ground, "we'd soon have a pop can park." |

Hello. Book #1: "The Pony Who Couldn't Say Neigh" (1964) by Marjory Schwalje, 8 copies for sale at Abebooks.com: http://dogbert.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?imagefield.x=0&an=schwalje&tn=neigh&imagefield.y=0 Book #2: "Who Wants a Pop Can Park?" published by Rand McNally (Start Right Elf Book #8563). Unfortunately, this book seems to be very rare. There is one copy listed for sale from someone called ThePhoneman: 2. A search of Google Groups reveals someone else looking for a book about Alfred. She seemed to think it was a little Golden Book and that the title was "The Pony who Wouldn't Say Neigh!" However, I could not find any title reference in the Library of Congress Catalog; hopefully someone else with more time can :-) |
