My father was Edward Armitage of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. He
was a fine worsted manufacturer trading as Edward & Son, and college
lecturer. He married my mother Constance Jane Dickson about 1906/7.
They had six children (John, James, Norman, Eleanor, Donald, and
Jean). Who was his first wife, and did they have any children? If
so, hbow many, and what were their names?

To have a basis for further research, I'm currently trying to identify
the correct Edward Armitage. Unfortunately, this name is not rare in
the Huddersfield District. But I have found one Edward Armitage in the
1901 Census of England and Wales that might be the right one:
Name: Edward Armitage
Age: 36
Where born: Yorkshire, Huddersfield
Civil Parish: Lockwood
Occupation: Lecturer, Cloth Weaving
Do you think that this is the Edward Armitage you have in mind? I also
found him in the 1881 Census of England, as the son of Frederick
Armitage (then 43 years old) and Judith E. Armitage, of Lockwood.
Does this look like the correct person to you? Any additional details
you could provide may prove helpful.
