I am using Leech FTP Version 1.3 because it is very simple software to
use. Is this old program safe enough to continue using or are there
serious concerns?

Howdy cdn2005-ga,

As LeechFTP 1.3 is still available for download from CNET's Download.com
("Safe, Trusted, and Spyware-Free") website, with favorable reviews through
at least December of last year, and the 1.3 version is still available on
the official LeechFTP website, it appears safe to use.

A search for security alerts and such for LeechFTP does not show any results
that would raise any concerns. I use LeechFTP as well, have my machines
locked down pretty tightly, and have never seen any security problem with it.

I use several old programs for the same reason as you, they are easy to use
and quite powerful. Old doesn't necessarily translate to insecure.

If you need any clarification, please feel free to ask.

Search strategy:

Google search on: "Leech FTP" OR LeechFTP security
://www.google.com/search?q=%22Leech+FTP%22+OR+LeechFTP+security
