How can I get Life Insurance rates for the top life insurers in
Florida expressed as price / $1,000 of coverage. I'm guessing that
the numbers are typically in the range of $1.00 / $1,000 to $3.00 /
$1,000. This question is about Group Term Life Insurance - the kind
that employers provide to their employees.
According to the 2002 Florida Insurance FACT book, the major life
insurance carrier in Florida are: 1. Metropolitan Life 5.9% market
share; 2. Northwest Mutual Life - 4.87%; 3. Prudential - 4.13% and 4.
Kemper with 2.8% share. Note: this information might have come from
the Florida Department of Insurance 2000 Annual Report. Regardless of
the source, the companies that I'm interested in researching are the
four companies listed above.
The raw data needs are probably available on the State Pages of the
Florida insurance filing - this is called a "blank". National
competitors probably have to file a "state page" for each state in
which they compete and the specifica information that is needed from
these pages is:
1) Face value of the coverage
2) Total Premium paid for the coverage.
Nice to haves:
3) Number of Policies - i.e. the number of employers or groups
4) Number of Certificates - i.e. the actual number of people insured
An example:
Face Value of Coverage = $8,848,707,000 divided by $1,000 = $8,848,707
Total amount of premium = $28,095,381
Price per $1,000 of coverage = $28,095,381 / $8,848,707 = $3.18 / $1,000
In its simplest form the question is: Can you get me the four data
elements outlined above for the four competitors related to their
operations in Florida.
Thanks,
