Is there a company that sells GPS devices for vehicles (single
vehicles, not a fleet of rental cars) and other "thief-desirable"
items?  I have searched Google and didn't find much for the poor
citizen, but there must be something out there for us.  We have tried
to deter theft, now we want to find out where they're taking our
stuff, or at least find it when they're done with it!

Although not GPS-based, LoJack is a well-known vehicle tracking
system.  Consumers can buy it, but only the police can locate vehicles
using it.  Another related system can be used by police to locate
stolen laptops when they are connected to the Internet.

pinkfreud, I think you've nailed it!  I plan on making a decision very
shortly on which vendor to choose.  Oh, I wish I'd had this when not
one, but two of our cars were stolen (one, the police eventually
found; the other, nope).  Thanks, I consider this an answer.  Thanks
for your help, Wonko, but I don't know if our PD has LoJack
capabilities (I doubt it).
