At www.enercon.de, you can see a wind turbine, E-112. I want to know how much this turbine costs for each one (In US dollars), assuming location is in Europe, several are purchased in a "contract" and logistics is simple and convenient, or a 'best case scenario of logistics' ? Their website is weak. Perhaps other German electric company web sites would state this info....or European newspapers on-line (?) Please also tell me the source of your answer. Thank you ! |

I found a lot of information about the e-112 but the industry seems remarkably reluctant to give any prices, probably due to the vast variation in construction costs for each location. After all, you don't just buy the hardware, you contract for an installation. Sorry I couldn't find a specific answer. |

Here is a web site which might interest you. www.sandia.gov/wind/ 2004BladeWorkshopPDFs/PeterJamieson.pdf - This article "Evolution of Modern Wind Turbine Rotors" by Peter Jamieson, on page 21 gives the trends of pricing varying with dia of blades. Minimum cost of about $550/kw is achived where the dia is 50 meters. E-112 has a dia of 100 meters. so the price per kw may be somewhere between $500 and $ 1000 Hope this is useful. ivlnchary |

Yes, one of the many documents I located. The only answer is to contact the vendor and either convince them you are a legitimate customer, or perhaps a student doing research for a paper (no, I realize this wasn't a homework question, I was suggesting a contact strategy). |

First, there is no simple dollar amount answer to this question, but if you are pressing for a "ball park" figure: $3-5 million. Go to the Danish Wind Industry Association: www.windpower.org/en/core.htm Take the "Guided tour:, and click on "Economics". This site is very good at explaining; why there is no real set price tag for these turbines especially if you are wanting more than one, the logistic and setup costs, how long you would want to make payments, and why you would want the huge E-112 if you are in Germany. |
