Hello. Whenever I try to uninstall nvidia driver from add/remove I keep getting this error: NVIDIA Uninstall Error(18) There are no more files. Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\NVIDIA Drivers\Subcomponents OK button then, I press OK, and get another error box message saying NVIDIA Uninstall Error(0) The operation completed successfully. Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\NVIDIA Drivers\SubComponents and I press OK again, and for about 5 times, the same error message of NVIDIA Uninstall Error(0) keeps on coming up one by one after pressing OK. Finally the Remove NVIDIA Components box shows up, and on the bottom, there's no NVIDIA drivers listed. I have nForce2 and nvidia fx5700, for nForce 2 I have version 5.10 driver installed, and for the graphic card, I have 81.98 driver installed. I have Windows XP SP2 installed. Any suggestions? Thank you very much for any help. I appreciate it. Thank you. I even tried reformatting and reinstalling everything, and I still have the same error. | |

this might be the result of stray registry items you could try using a registry cleaner after removal or look here http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=detonatorrip&menu=0 |

No, the drivers are installed, but whenever I press remove driver from add/remove programs, the error box pops up before the Remove Nvidia Components. The reason I know that the drivers are still installed is by going to properties in desktop, and looking at my graphic card settings and everything. It says that I have 81.98 installed. Everything is all installed, and Yes, I did compare my Nvidia registry with the fine computer. It is missing a key in Subcomponents, and whenever I try to add the same key as the fine working computer (friend's), it is locked and won't let me. From subcomponents there should be a value called "nvdisp.nvu" value data: "NVIDIA Display Driver". I don't know why I am locked out from uninstalling and I can't even reinstall. any suggestions? Nope, the registry cleaner and none of them don't work. First, I thought it was the registry cleaner that caused the problem, so I tried reformatting my computer, and reinstalled everything without cleaning up my registry or anything, and still... the problems occurs. I don't know when this problem started. Again, I cannot reinstall over it, nor can I uninstall. I'm locked out from just being installed. |

found this may solve your problem for uninstalling or allowing you to add a key Run regedit and goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\NVIDIA Drivers\SubComponents right click on the subcomponents folder and select permissions. Add your user name to the security box and give yourself full control in the permissions box. One [sic] you have done that you will be able to uninstall the Nvidia drivers. |
