I am being asked by a friend who will shell out this amount, base on
my understanding for his inquiry, he want to check how vast will the
search be done by the researcher and how deep.

Seems to me that my friend got his answers but will wait for a few
more days in case someone can provide clue.

First of all please be advised that you are asking for an older
version 6.x series which MicroStrategy is no longer selling.  You can
visit Microstrategy website at www.microstrategy.com but you will not
find 6.x there.  Only old customers of MicroStrategy will have the
older version.  And also, like any software vendor, MicroStrategy
would be trying to get their existing customers upgraded from 6.x to
the new 7.x and 7i series quickly.
 
May I ask why do you want to see 6.x demo?  Is there something
specific you know about 6.x that you think will not exist in 7.x? 
When you say your friend does not believe such a thing exists, are
they referring to Microstrategy software in general or Microstrategy
6.x in particular?  Can you expand on what exactly do you want to see?
 
So, I would break it down to your interest in 6.x vs. 7.x. 
 
Now, if you are not particular about 6.x, you can always get a free
EVAL CD for latest MicroStrategy software 7i series which has easy to
follow tutorials etc. to get jump started.  Just go to the
MicroStrategy website http://www.microstrategy.com/FreeEvalCD.asp to
download or ask for CD in mail.  Or call Microstratregy at
888-537-8135 to talk to them.  Also, website has live running demo and
presentations.
