The trainer has some control if the trainer is aware of the problems, but in a large class the trainer can spend so much time on individual problems, and small talk, that very little gets taught to anyone. The trainer should not assume the learners know the defintions of words he or she uses such as HRT and quantum effects. The trainer should be convincing that the listeners will need this information later, if not short term. So some barriers to learning are the trainer allows the class to control the discussuion, gives some wrong information destroying his credibility, noisy room, too hot, too drafty. The listeners are bored, hungry, tired, not convinced the information is useful. The trainers loudness, diction, sentence structure, accent, organization of the subject is poor, resulting listener exhaustion trying to figure out the details of the presentation. In my opinion, a few good examples is much better than a lot of generalities. Neil |
