I was at home using my web based remote access to my company email (through Activcard) I stupidly left this open whilst I was browsing through other sites for another job. Is there anyway that my company could know I was searching these sites by leaving the remote access connection on at the same time? |

Sorry to hear about that. ActivCard has changed its name to ActivIdentity and yes, it can track the identity of its users remotely. You may be interested in signing into one of the webinars on ActivIdentity and its tracking ability at www.actividentity.com/en/company/webinar/index.php Hope this helps. lgcamp www.webspawner.com/users/editmasters |

Thanks for the comment - However I was not connected to the Internet through my company network (they only provide web based email access)but through my own personal Internet account in a seperate session and window albeit at the same time. My question is that whether Actiidentity could record what I was accessing through that seperate login |

Oh dear! What a nightmare situation! The good news is you should be absolutely fine! Let me just check that I understand your situation correctly. -You logged on to your company email system via a web browser using Activecard/Activeidentity to authenticate yourself. -You checked your emails, and then openned up a new browser windows and did some surfing (for jobs) -You then realised that you'd left the other window open and it was still connected to the company email system - so you closed it down. If that's the case then you are fine. Activecard is just an authentication mechanism, it simply verifies that you are who you say you are before permitting you access to the company email. Because this is all that device does, you were still surfing the Internet on your own computer/laptop and weren't passing any communication through the company. As you were going through your own channel to the Internet and not passing any information through the company's network you are absolutely fine, it is impossible for them to detect what else you were doing on your computer at that time. I'm more than willing to give you a more technical breakdown if it would help, but to cut a long story short you have nothing to worry about. Now good luck with that new job! |
