Can someone tell me how many skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) there
are in the United States? I would like to know this number as recently

Hi Jess05,

According to the material below, there are between 15,000 and 17,000
Skilled Nursing Facilities in the U.S.

Excerpt:

"People needing more intensive or continual service may be placed in a
skilled nursing facility (also known as a nursing home or extended
care facility). These places provide 24-hour care and supervision to
patients who are unable to care for themselves. There are about 17,000
Skilled Nursing Facilities in the U.S. Some patients reside in the
facility for a short time (i.e., recovery from illness, trauma or
surgery), while others spend the rest of their lives under constant
care. Experts estimate about half of all women and one-third of all
men over 65 will spend at least some time in a skilled nursing
facility during their lives."
