I'm researching for someone how to grow basil. This would be in large
commercial quantities (the person is starting a business), not simply
growing in your home garden or something. The business would be in
the Pacific Northwest, so I'm not certain that it could be grown
outdoors - perhaps in a greenhouse. I also would like to know how to
grow basil hyroponically. I am certainly happy to receive any and all
info you may uncover, but ideally, I'd like a step by step guide if
possible. I had found the following site that seems to address
growing basil in soil.

http://www.extension.umn.edu/projects/yardandgarden/ygbriefs/H205basil.html

This seems to be a good start, but I fear it may not be comprehensive
enough for someone starting a business. Also, it doesn't address the
hydroponic issue at all.

Hi rmckee,

I have gathered various articles, aids, and leads, that should help
your friend to get informed about starting his/her own basil farming
business. There is some useful information in the links below, but as
this a large scale operation, it may be advisable to consult an expert
before embarking on this project. I have provided details below of a
well regarded hydroponic consultant, Gordon Creaser, in case your
friend wishes to make use of his services. The first article below, by
Gordon Creaser, explains in some detail the best way (according to
him) to grow herbs hydroponically.

Everything looks great - thanks!!! I have just one question. The
link to the business for sale opens up fine, but if you click on the
'contact seller' button, a 'page is not found' message comes up.

Is this an active listing or is it an old link? Do you know of it
listed elsewhere, so I can follow up with the seller? Thanks.

The advertisement appears to be active. To contact the seller you'll
need to register with BusinessForSale.com (It's free!). I did not get
any error messages when I clicked on the link. When I clicked on the
"contact the seller" link, I was forwarded to the log-in/registration
page. Under "New to BusinessesForSale.com?", I selected a country from
the drop-down menu, and then selected an option from the "Buyer Type"
and "Buyer Experience" drop-down menus. Then I clicked on the
"Continue Registration" button, where I was forwarded to another page
to choose my membership level. You can choose the "Standard
Membership" which is free. Once you have selected the membership
level, you will be forwarded to another page to enter your personal
details. After this stage is completed, you will have the opportunity
to send a message to the buyer.

I hope this works for you.
