I have a very good order processing system which I developed in MS Access.
This is also linked to a MySQL database on our server so customers and
our production facilities can access data online via asp web pages.
Customers can currently track their orders on-line via a secure web
order-tracking system I developed in asp.
I now want to add a feature similar to which I have seen used by TNT
courier (www.tnt.co.uk, Track 'n' Trace). I want customers to be able
to send an email to a specified address, which I could setup, such as
orders@........, our email system (either by some email component
?)which would then regularly auto check this mailbox, strip the emails
down if found, check the data against our mysql database and then fire
an email back with the required order status.

I would suggest that customers are given a specified code when they
place their first order with us. This code could be used as the
subject line in the email.
They could then enter the order numbers they wish to track 1 per line
in the body of the email, and they state 'End' after the last PO
Number in the email body.

The database would then be able to search on the code number and pull
out the matching orders and then, similar to asp, write detailed info
back into an email to return to the sender, either stating full
information, or that no matches were found etc.

We currently have the server in-house.
It is running Microsoft Windows 2003 server using Echange Server v.6.5.6944.0
It is also running MySQL

Is this possible at all ?

Thanks

David Gordon
