Makai,

I wrote to Guadalupe Valley Telecommunications Cooperative and the
Director of Sales & Marketing kindly replied that their cable
subsidiary was formed in the early 1980's.

They also mentioned that they offer cable television in the areas of
Bulverde Hills, Canyon Lake, Fair Oaks Ranch, Boerne and Tapatio
Springs. They do not provide cable television to San Antonio or New
Braunfels.

I can provide you with the name of the Director of Sales & Marketing,
phone number and email address as well.

Would this information suit your purpose and be a satisfactory answer?

Thank you,
Bobbie7

makai-ga,

According to the official US government cable registration records at
the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Guadalupe Valley
Telecommunications is registered in the following two Texas locations
around San Antonio:

BOERNE -- Operational date: 8/1/1981

CANYON LAKE -- Operational date: 9/1/1982

The actual FCC records can be accessed here:

http://www.fcc.gov/mb/engineering/liststate.html

by clicking on "Texas", and downloading the spreadsheet files that
detail all registered cable companies operating in the state.

I trust that's what you needed, but if there's anything else I can do
for you, just let me know by posting a Request for Clarification.

I need to know when they began "providing" cable service, not when
their subsidiary was formed, which could have been years before they
actually began providing cable service. At a minimum, "providing"
would mean marketing/selling their cable service to potential
subscribers. I already knew from researching their Secretary of State
filing when their subsidiary was formed. Perhaps the person you
corresponded with will tell you when they began offering cable service
in those areas. thanks.

this does not answer my question. I am sure they are registered. I
need to know when they began providing/marketing/selling cable
service.

makai-ga,

The dates given in the FCC records are not the registration approval
date, but the actual date that the service became operational. In
fact, the column heading that lists the date is titled "Operational
Date".

I'd be glad to look into the dates in more detail, if you'd like. But
I need to know what, in particular, you are looking for beyond the
actual "operational date" that I already provided.

At the ready....

I think this answers my question at least for two of the areas. thank
you. sorry I mis-read your initial answer and didn't go to the FCC
site.

I also wrote to them and got the same answer.
Our cable television subsidiary was formed in the early 1980's. We do not
offer service in San Antonio or New Braunfels.

Thank you,

Janet
