I am looking for information about stand-alone software or a plug-in
to create and edit fillable forms, documents or templates on Microsoft
Word format. At our office several employees use Word documents for
'Proposals', 'Equipment Schedules' and other repetitive tasks; those
documents are difficult to use and maintain in their native format.
Thanks in advance for your answers.

If you have Microsoft Word, you certainly don't need any additional
software. Perhaps you can try my "extreme tutorial"?
http://www.officearticles.com/tutorials/an_extreme_tutorial_in_creating_fill-in_forms_in_microsoft_word.htm

Or perhaps you only need the "short version"?

I hope it helps!
