I need to know how many employees work for CNN, CNN Headline News, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, and CNBC. If you go to CNN it will say they have a news staff of over 4,000 around the world. I need to know a more specific number like how many employees it takes to actually operate the networks. Also, I would like to know how many people work for weatherbug, yahoo.com, accuweather.com, MSN.com,AOL (just AOL, not AOL/Time Warner), weatherunderground, CNN Espanol, ESPN Desportes, ect. Any information is helpful and I have to know the source. Remember its the segments of the companies that i want to know employee number for not the whole company. Thanks! |

Dear ChezLeigh: Here are the number of employees as of late 2001 or early 2002 [except where noted; see source below] CNN - 3950 employees CNN Sports Illustrated - 74 employees CNN Headline News - 230 employees [1998] Cable News Network - 2200 employees MSNBC - 450 employees MSNBC.com - 350 employees Fox News Channel - 880 employees [2001] CNBC - 400 employees weatherbug - could not find yahoo! Broadcast - 227 accuweather.com - 400 MSN.com - could not find AOL Interactive Services - 135 employees AOL/Time Warner - 89,300 weatherunderground - could not find CNN Espanol - could not find ESPN Desportes - could not find sources: All information was acquired from a proprietary subscription based data base called OneSource. The number of employees for Fox and Headline news were found indirectly, through articles on job cuts, as indicated below, from same database. However, these articles (and sort of information) can also be found in LexisNexis, another source of news articles. 1) Cuts are Part of Big Changes at CNN, Multichannel News, January 22, 2001 2) Headline News will cut 70 jobs, Multichannel News, page 5, May 04, 1998 I hope this is what you were looking for, claudietta |
