Okay...

I got a new PC, loaded Office XP including Outlook. Got all my
settings and files transferred properly, which was a miracle.

Each time I use Outlook however, I get a dialog box asking me for my
passwords for any POP email that I am getting. I can not get Outlook
to remember my passwords.

I went to the following Microsoft webpage:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290684

Followed the directions for XP. The problem lies in the facts that
when I go to Run REGEDIT32, my computer says it has no such file.

Who can help me? I am certain that this is an easy fix, I am just not
willing to give up on this, and I can't stand entering passwords!

Thanks in advance.

Hi lstein00,

Try running System File Checker:

How to use scannow sfc...
http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html

I hope that helps,
hummer

Did the System File Checker, nothing.

Then I did the microsoft 'fix' using STAMPX's comment that I didn't
need the 32 after REGEDIT. Nothing.

Any more ideas?

Istein00-ga,

One thing I believe that may help you with the regedit problem is that
you go to Start > Run > type "regedit". You do not need to type
"regedit32" as this will not work. This may sound dumb, but have you
tried going under Outlook into Tools > Email Accounts > View or Change
Existing Accounts > Change > and check the box that says remeber
password? Also sometimes you may need to go into the setting that says
my outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and checking that
box and setting that password or telling it to use the same password
as the incoming mail.

I hope this helps you out.

have you changed the passwords lately? if you have/have not is the
"save password to password list" check box selected? if not check
it... simple answer, hopefully it works
