I lived in California all of 2005. All my income was earned in California. My wife lived and earned in Oregon until July 31st 2005. From August 1st to Dec 31st, she lived and earned in Washington state (No state tax). Note that she was working for the same company in both the states (single W2). Would it be best for us to file MFJ for Federal? What do you think are our options for filing state tax in California and Oregon? i.e. should we file joint or separate in the states? What would be the best way for us to do taxes and what forms should we use? |

This is a very important issue. I would suggest that you seek the advice of a tax lawyer or CPA. A source for legal advice is http://www.sandiegolawyerforyou.com Here is the direct link for a California tax lawyer: http://www.sandiegolawyerforyou.com/san-diego-tax-law.htm |
