Question ID: 437956
We are looking for free and/or subscription services for quanititative
industry data and market statistics. We would like to know for each
service:

1) the industries they serve (specialty),
2) level of detail in their reports (general industry vs. applications
within an industry, etc.),
3) Their sources (where they get their information),
4) What type of customized research or services they have (if they
only sell reports, or if they have a "search" service to find specific
information),
5) What their rates are for subscriptions/fees.

We know of companies like IBIS, Gartner, BCC, Frost & Sullivan, Global
industry analysts, etc... but don't have time to look into each one.
We'd like to know about these or any more/better services that exist
in the US. Thank You.

Hello cmacne-ga,

Are you familiar with the aggregators of market research reports? Some
of them offer hundreds of publishers in dozens of industry categories.
You can pick and choose to continue your research by name or category
using these databases of research reports. Will this meet your needs?

I look forward to your clarification.

Thank you for your response. We have looked into those types of
companies, and would like information for those as well if possible.
Our thought was to compare the individual companies and see if it was
cheaper or more beneficial to affiliate with one research company
rather than going through the aggregator. If you could include those
companies in the answer, that would be great -- specifically, how much
searching, etc. do they do for you, what their fees are, if they have
subscriptions, etc. Does that clarify?

Hello again cmacne-ga,

I'm still not sure what would constitute a good answer.

As I understand your question, you would like a review of the
capabilities of the five companies you've listed (IBIS, Gartner, BCC,
Frost & Sullivan, Global Industry Analysts) covering the five criteria
you've listed. You would also like to know whether there are
additional/similar highly rated market research organizations that
should be included.

Investigating each of these companies is a complex project because
they all provide a wide range of services. How much detail do you
expect for each of these companies? You might have better luck getting
answers if you posted a separate question for each company since
researchers will not attempt an answer if some information is missing
for some of the five companies.

Taking a look at the IBIS website, you can see that it will take quite
a bit of digging to answer your five questions for this company.

I note that this is the first question you've posted on Google
Answers. I suggest that you review the links below to help optimize
your results.

In addition, reviewing the categories, topics and publishers at just
one report aggregator shows you the range of possibilities. It is
difficult to know what would be the best companies for you without
knowing your selection criteria.

I'd love to help you with your project. Please expand on exactly what
you need. Thanks.
