I have a friend who lives in Sweden. She would love to buy a
slow-cooker, but can't seem to find one and buying one from North
America might be too expensive. Are there any places that sell
slow-cookers, or even better, what would a slow-cooker be called in
Sweden?

Hi,
"crockpot" can be translated as "lergryta" (earthenware vessel with a
lid), and such pots are readily available in most hardware shops. But
I guess you are looking for an electrical cooker? Such cookers
doesn't seem to be common in Sweden, the closest matches are steam
cookers and rice cookers.

Using a U.S. slow cooker in sweden would probably not work, because of
the difference in voltages (110 V vs 230 V) and power outlet shapes.

I think the best option would be to order a slow-cooker from Germany,
they sell at around ?40:

Thanks blazius! I never even considered the voltage problem, even
though I am aware of it. I'll pass this link on to my friend, maybe
that would be easier for her to order from indeed.

Yes, I guess it would be an electrical cooker then...I'll ask my
friend about the lergryta :-)
