Hello milesy,

Angela Bird has a very informative website on the Vendee region of
west France. In her "Markets" section, she lists many markets in the
region on each day of the week. For Noirmoutier, Ms. Bird lists the
following on Fridays:

"Noirmoutier-en-l'Ile; Les Sables-d'Olonne P"
http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~anjbird/markets.htm

The 'P' stands for "Picturesque market halls" and she lists it as the
"central market." Note also that she says "unless otherwise stated,
all markets are held in the morning, finishing around 12.30pm."

To find this information, I browsed numerous French tourism websites
until I found the Enjoy France! section on the Ile of Nourmoutier:

Enjoy France!
http://www.enjoyfrance.com/magazine/zoom/00/page3_us.htm

which links to the french version of Vendee.com here:
http://www.vendee.com/french/offices/noirmout.htm

The French site has a direct link to Angela Birds' english website:
http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~anjbird/index.html#top

If you are comfortable with French, you can also visit the offical Ile
de Nourmoutier website which also lists the "Marche de Noirmoutier" on
Friday mornings all year round:
http://www.ile-noirmoutier.com/

I hope you find this information helpful!

Hello milesy,

Just an afterthought:

The official Noirmoutier website also lists an additional market for
the summer months on Monday mornings if you just happen to be there
for only a couple of days.

Google provides a translation service if you so desire as well:

Enjoy your trip!

Whoops, the Monday morning summer market is actually for the
Herbaudiere Market. The Noirmoutier summer market is on Tuesday
mornings. Sorry for the confusion!
